Lakme 9 to 5 Foundation Review

Hey Loves,

Apologies for being out of circuit for a while, was busy at work. But, here I am πŸ™‚ with the Lakme 9 to 5 Foundation Review.

I was really looking forward to try this new range of Lakme – the 9 to 5 range. I have been using this product for a while and am loving it. Its a wonderful foundation for daily office wear. Its long wearing and most importantly, helps curtail the oiliness around my T zone πŸ™‚

Lakme 9 to 5 Foundation PicsArt_1379666523940

Pros:

  • Provides full coverage – You can build on it for heavy coverage
  • Blends well – you can blend it by itself with a brush or beauty blender. I noticed, it blends well with a wet sponge/brush.
  • Completely soaks in my skin
  • Doesn’t feel heavy
  • Covers the pores very well.
  • Helps curtail oil secretion around my t-zone
  • Decently Priced – Rs. 450INR
  • Good packaging – loved the sponge packing inside the box as well as the matte bottle
  • Has a pump – that’s definitely a plus one for me
  • Travel friendly.
  • Long lasting – my face looked radiant for a good 7-8 hours
  • It is good by itself but like to seal it with a compact.

Cons:

  • It dries quickly, so you need to be quick at blending it on your face. That can be a pro as well…the way you wana look at it.

All in all, i loved it for a day-to-day routine foundation. Have received compliments at work stating my skin looks fresh and radiant when i had this on. And, it doesn’t give me a feeling of wearing a foundation at all…so that’s what i like about it the most…gets soaked in the skin pretty nicely.

Its definitely been my go-to product this last month. My recommendation, you must try it. Do let me know your experience.

Faces Eye Pencil Review

Hey Friends,

I am a fanatic of eye makeup and i just cant get enough! Its so difficult to not buy a new eyeshadow shade or liner!

I recently bought 2 new eye pencils from Faces in dark brown and dark green. I have not used this brand before so thought of doing a quick review on it.

Faces Eye Pencil in Dark Brown & Green

Faces Eye Pencil in Dark Brown & Green

Pros:

  • Very dark shades of brown and green. I like to use them outside my lower lash line to create more depth and intense look
  • Affordable price – around 150 INR

Cons:

  • Its not absolutely long wearing i would say….smudges a bit as the day progresses. It will fade a bit but will definitely showup on the face.
  • Its in a pencil form. I am not a very big fan of pencils, i prefer the retractable ones.
  • Its not very smooth to glide on specially if you want to use it as eyeliner on top.

I liked it but not loved it. It does the job of highlighting very well along with black liner. But if you use it all by itself, it might fall short of your expectations in terms of longevity…it will fade. That’s the only issue i can highlight. But then again, the price and colors are a thumbs up. If you want a cheap substitute to high end products and something that you might want to use once in a while….this will work.

Hope you find this review helpful. Let me know if you do try this product or any other shades.

The Perfect Navy Blue – Colorbar Oriental Blue Eye Pencil Review!

Hey Gals,

Blue is my color and I had been in search of a nice navy blue eye pencil which, is not glitterly, long wearing and water proof.

Its been a tough quest i must say….i have searched all major brands for the perfect navy blue and would come across shades of blue but not a good navy blue. Most of the so called navy blues were with a dark green undertone. But, my efforts of finding the perfect navy blue have finally paid off! πŸ™‚

It is the Colorbar Oriental Blue 06 eye pencil. I just looooovvvveee this one. Its a gorgeous Navy Blue and looks absolutely stunning!

Faces - Oriental Blue eye p

Colorbar – Oriental Blue eye pencil

Pros:

  • Glides on like butter – very smooth formula
  • Gorgeous color – not glittery/sparkly but has its own shine
  • Very long wearing – stays all day!
  • Doesnt smudge – you will have to make an effort to remove it

Cons:

  • Price – I think its a little steep on price – around 400 INR. I would think twice paying that kind of money for an eye pencil.
  • Its a pencil and not a retractable one. I am not a big fan of pencils coz you have to sharpen them. I prefer the retractable ones.

The pros definitely outnumber the cons. I am willing to let go of the cons coz its the perfect navy blue i was looking for! It gives soo much depth to the eyes…looks gorgeous!

My suggestion – if you want a navy blue eye pencil, this is most certainly the correct navy blue shade and its worth the money. So, definitely give it a try and share your experiences.

High End Makeup Brushes Dupes!

Hey Gals,

Are you one of those who love makeup brushes, but think they are too expensive? Well, read on to find out about high end makeup brushes dupes πŸ™‚

Before i start this post, please note that I am in no way trying to demean any high end makeup brushes brand. They are awesome and owning them is every girl’s pride. Their quality is not questionable at all. This post is more about finding an affordable option to these high end makeup brushes.

I simply love the below stated brushes but thought they were very expensive for my day-to-day makeup needs. Hence, thought of finding some dupes.

  • Round Kabuki Brush – This brush is mainly used for application of power products like pressed powder. (Sigma’s F82 – Round Kabuki –> 18$)
  • Flat Kabuki brush – As the name suggests, this brush is used for application of liquid/creamy foundation. (Sigma’s F80 – Flat Kabuki –> 18$)
  • Angled Kabuki brush – This brush is awesome for application of blush or bronzer (Sigma’s F84 – Angled Kabuki –> 18$)
  • Tapered Kabuki brush – This is a very good brush for contouring or applying foundation to corner areas around the nose and eyes. (Sigma’s F86 – Tapered Kabuki –> 18$)
  • Sigma also sells a combo pack of these four at 62$ (http://www.sigmabeauty.com/category_s/58.htm)

I checked locally for dupes but didn’t find any kabuki style brushes. They were more of normal bristle non-kabuki brushes. So, didn’t work for me as I specifically wanted kabuki brushes. Hence, moved on to search amazon and eBay for days and finally found the dupes i was looking for! They definitely do a good job if you want to use them for day-to-day makeup needs and gives you a happy feeling of using brushes similar to high end ones πŸ˜‰

4 Makeup Brushes

Flat Kabuki Brush - for liquid & creamy foundation application

Tapered Kabuki - very good brush for contouring

Angled Kabuki - for blush & bronzer application

Round Kabuki - for powder application

Pros:

  • Goodquality synthetic brush bristles – very soft
  • Firmly held to the base – so helps in ease of application
  • 1 inch of brush length (as compared to Sigma which is more than 2 inches)
  • Black handle (you get white handle as well)
  • Looks are very similar to high end make up brushes.
  • Awesome price. I got 4 brushes for 22$ – whereas Sigma’s one brush is around 18$.

Cons:

  • Unbranded
  • Short length of bristles

In my opinion, though these are unbranded, they are definitely value for money. I was super impressed with the quality of these. I ordered these brushes from eBay (link provided below) and got the delivery from USA within a week’s time!! They were absolutely as per the description provided by the seller. I highly recommend this seller.

Makeup Brushes I ordered –> http://www.ebay.com/itm/380690101035?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_245wt_905

Seller Information –> http://myworld.ebay.com/i2cworld_inc3?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

Please note, i am not associated with this seller in any way and nor i am getting any monetary compensation from him/her for promoting them on this blog post. I am recommending this seller purely in good faith due to my good experience with this product.

So, no more feeling bad of not owning high end makeup brushes, we have a dupe now!

Hope you enjoyed this post and save some money on your makeup brushes.

Do share your experience if you try these brushes or you know of some other affordable options.

Faces I-Shine Eyeshadow Quartet Review!

Hey Friends,

This is gonna be a quick review of Faces I-Shine Eyeshadow Quartet. I had received this one as a gift and i loved it. The colors are soo pigmented and gorgeous…its a perfect quartet for party!

The shades in this quartet are as under:

Faces I-Shine Quartet

1) Pink – This is a very shiny pigmented light pink. You can definitely use it as a crease color.

2) Taupe – this is a gorgeous taupe color with a mauve or purple undertone. Looks amazing! its my favorite. its soooo awesome by itself alone that you can have a complete look with this one color itself. It really reflects the light so well.

3) Blue – this is yet another awesome shade…its difficult to describe…its a bluish purplish color..reflects the light so well

4) Silver – this is basic silver but very shiny. you can use this to enhance the inner corner of your eye or as a crease shade.

Pros:

  • Has Vitamin E in it
  • Very pigmented
  • 2 toned colors
  • long staying power – i recommend using an eye primer before application
  • perfect combination for a smokey eye look and party look
  • have a lot of shine to them
  • Reasonable price for a quartet – around 450 INR
  • Available in different colors as well
  • Comes with a small 2 sided applicator (placed in the centre of the quartet)
  • Good packaging – small & compact so good for travel.

Cons:

  • The only complain i have is, all the shades in this quartet are shiny. I personally would have loved to have atleast one matte shade for crease.

All in all, good product and value of money. Do share your experience if you try it or any other quartet.

Manicure Monday – Neon French!

Hey Loves,

Hope everyone had a rocking weekend! Its Monday! Not a very loveable day of the week for many including me…but thought i’ll share something worth inspiring to start your day:)

image

Thats my manicure monday in neon:) Honestly, i am not a very big fan of Neon colors, but its the color of the season right now and everywhere you go…everything is brightly lit with neon colors…be it nail polishes, shoes, bags, tees….everything is just neon! I couldn’t resist and picked up a neon nail polish myself and tried this nail art over the weekend.

Its a easy one…did french manicure in neon orange and put a line across in green. That way, it doesnt look very blingy πŸ˜‰ I loved the output…was so skeptical of wearing neon shade in the beginning but i think using it as french does a wonderful job at giving it a subtle look.

Do pick up some neons this season and give it a try…for all you know…you may love it too like i did:) Do share your nail art.

Have a wonderful start to the week.

Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick Review!

Hey friends,

Off late, i was hunting for some drugstore lipsticks in matte. So, the search began and I reviewed maybelline, loreal and revlon matte lines. They all ranged between 600-800 INR which i thought was reasonable but a bit on the expensive side. So, the quest was on.

To my surprise, i came across Colorbar Lipsticks. They have the widest range of matte shades i have seen! beats the color range of many high end brands. And their price is unbelievable – 250 INR!

Despite the price being well within budget, i was a bit reluctant in the beginning to give it a try as when you swatch it on your hand, it has that glossy shine to it. The attendant across the counter assured me that when applied on lips, the moisture is absorbed in the lips and it looks perfectly matte. So, i bought one for trial sake. And…….i was so amazed by this product! And then i bought two more!!

So, here’s my review of the product followed by the swatches and names of my shades.

Pros:

  • Has awesome variety of colors in matte shades – conservatively they have 3 shades in red, mauve, pink, peach, browns etc in matte! that’s a wide variety out there!
  • Very moisturizing. Doesn’t feel heavy or dry on the lips
  • Transfer proof!! – something that i was really looking for. Its kind of embarrassing having your lipstick on coffee cups!
  • Good sturdy packaging
  • Affordable price range
  • Doesn’t smudge or cake around the lips. Stays where it needs to be.

Cons:

  • Lasts conservatively for around 6 hours without touchup and in between meals. Not that 6 hrs is not good but i would have loved to have it a little longer than that.Β As the day progresses, it will fade a bit but wont be off completely. It has staining quality – leaves a stain on the lips.

Colorbar Matte Lipsticks

1) 59 P – Peach Crush

This one is a gorgeous coral peachy pinky shade…more on the peach side. If you are looking for a nice summery look, you gotta have this shade. it looks soo amazing when put on. Plus the matte makes it stand out so well on the face. Totally love it. Btw, this was the 1st one i tried from this range and fell in love with it.

2) 41 M – Raisin Rum

This is a nice combination of pink n mauve. Its like a everyday go to shade. Looks very pretty and goes with anything.

3) 80 V – Hearts & Tarts

I loved this one!! its my favorite! i was dying to own a matte red lipstick that’s not to bright and wearable. This one fits the bill completely!! its a nice red with a pink undertone so it’s definitely wearable and doesn’t look overboard. its one of those red that gives your face a nice lift…if you know what i mean. The matte finish gives a very nice complete look to the face. There was also another red that i was considering while buying this one called Hot Hot Hot. That one is a real bright red with an orange undertone. I personally dont like red with orange undertones…i like them with a pink undertone. So, if you want a bright red, go for Hot Hot Hot.

I loved this product and want to try new colors in this range. Since the price is affordable, i wouldn’t mind adding a few of them to my vanity πŸ˜‰

If you are fond of matte lipsticks, this product definitely deserves your attention. i highly recommend trying it. If you so try some, let me know your experience.
