Travel blog – Union Square & Financial District, San Francisco

Day 2 in San Francisco started with a lovely breakfast at a small Cafe near our place called Cafe Coco. Had a nice chocolate croissant,  sandwich, hot chocolate and cappuccino. Decided a heavy breakfast would be good considering the long day we had ahead.
image

After having breakfast, we decided to go to Macy’s at Union Square. Union Square is one of the most happening areas in San Francisco. You name a brand and its there. Despite it being morning time and a working day as well. ..I was surprised by the number of people on the road and in Macy’s.

I loved Macy’s!! It was so huge! !! One can spend a day and yet not be satisfied. I went bazzerk looking at a whole ground level only dedicated to cosmetics and makeup! ! There was this section around Personal Assistant for shopping.. reminded me of some novels I have read πŸ˜‰

There was a seperate Macy’s building for mens! Can you believe it!! The winter collection was amazing. ..what lovely jackets!

The festivities for Thanksgiving & Xmas have started around Union Square and it was a sight to see the Macy’s Xmas tree… which by the way. .would be atleast 2-3 storey high! Inside Macy’s the whole theme was around ‘Believe’ that Santa does exist:) they had this cute little mailbox kept where kids could write down their wishes and drop it inside the mailbox addressing to Santa, North Pole!!

We saw a lot of other shops in Union Square like Wallgreens, Sephora, Victoria’s Secret, PINK, H&M, Forever 21 and last but not the least..Saks Fifth Avenue!  I really felt I was in some fashion capital; )

After grabbing a quick lunch at Burger King,  we proceeded to Nordstrom!! It was so huge!  All the facy brands under one roof! Did some window shopping there and proceded to see the Financial District area. As the name suggests,  this is a full are of large MNC Banks like Wells Fargo,  Chase, Bank of America,  Citi Bank,  Union Bank, BNP Paribas and many more.

I was simply amazed with the architecture in this area. Tall glass buildings.. some of which you can see the work stations as well. .and some old vintage architecture as well. Outstanding! I wished I could work in any of the offices in this area!

Towards the evening,  it was nice to see all formally dressed people rushing back to catch their subway trains and the ques in Starbucks getting longer by the second:)

Someone is taking on the phone. . Someone is sipping his coffee. .. someone was doing facetime with his kid promising to be home soon:) Normal things but yet brought a smile on my face. .. while I also felt a part of this crowd … walking in the cold weather. .hands in my jacket and sipping my Starbucks:) Feeling blessed πŸ™‚

Its me signing off for now. ..stay tuned for more updates.

Travel blog – Visiting Silicon Valley, CA

First day in San Francisco and what a start!  πŸ™‚

Today,  we visited the top IT Companies – Facebook,  Google,  LinkedIn and Apple! What a feeling! !

A friend of mine works in Facebook so he took us around and inside Facebook. ..that was something. ..we all are so used to using Facebook and seeing it from the inside was amazing! ! The campus is huge and lovely. Everything you need is there within the campus. .from food to laundry to games! ! The inside is like any other office but not the usual cubicle concept. ..its more informal.

I was super excited to see Mark Zuckerberg’s desk & conference room! I was amazed to see that he doesn’t have a cabin to himself. .sits amongst other staff on an ordinary desk. ..impressive I must say.

I am not sharing the inside Facebook photos at the moment. .but shall definately share them if my friend approves of it.

After spending around an hour in Facebook,  we moved to check out Google.  Its just a few blocks away from Facebook. Google has a huge campus and again outstanding infrastructure. While passing Goggle,  we came across LinkedIn as well!  I m told LinkedIn has a very good Indian restaurant within its campus.

image

Finally,  we went to Apple!! Wat a feeling. ..I wanted to go to Apple for a long time and the feeling was overwhelming!  Had recently seen Ashton Kutcher’s movie Jobs based on Steve Jobs… so some of the locations in campus reminded of that!  What vision Steve Jobs might have had when he started Apple! Incredible! !
image

So, that was today’s update:) I still can’t believe I was inside all these top notch companies. .. brilliant feeling. .. gonna sleep with a smile on my face today:)

I plan to do some local site seeing in San Francisco tomrw. . Shall keep you posted.

Have fun & take care.

Travel Blog – Transit enroute to San Francisco

Hey Loves,

We have been traveling for almost 18-20 hours now! Had it not been for the comfort of business class, I don’t think I could have sustained this long journey.

We had our transit at Brussels. It feels so good being back in Brussels… have been here twice before. . Just love this place! World’s best chocolates and French fries are found here. .the Grand Central place is amazing during this time around due to Thanksgiving and Xmas celebrations. Brings back some fond memories. We didn’t have enough time to venture out of the airport so landed up doing some shopping instead; )

image

Finally, after a few long hours we made it to New York! ! My dream city! ! πŸ™‚ Super excited.  While landing,  it was a site to see the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building and the new World One from the top. . Couldn’t capture that time from camera.

We start our trip with San Francisco so we will be coming back to New York. Had some awesome pizza’s at Famiglia and a drink at Guiness Bar

image

And finally boarded for San Francisco!  Its been a very long day and I just want to get the travel to end now. The highlight of the whole travel was this outstanding arial shot of New York City by the night! πŸ™‚ looks like a beautiful maze!
